I am incredibly grateful to be this year’s recipient from the Scholarship Foundation of the Pacific. Being awarded this scholarship is amazing. I feel honoured to have been selected from such an accomplished group of applicants and I look forward to representing the Foundation at Simon Fraser University this fall. I plan to study linguistics and pursue a master’s degree in Speech Pathology, a career I hope to bring back to Haida Gwaii someday. Moving from a small coastal community to a big city is a huge change but having the Foundation’s support will make it that much easier. No matter where you are from, your dreams are valid, and being chosen for this scholarship has put mine into action.

Education is a powerful tool. I am so thankful for this gift, and would like to extend a thank you from the bottom of my heart to the Foundation and all the individuals involved in making this a reality.
